During Covid, I made over 30 small portraits of bees. I sold them in order to raise money for De Bijenstichting, a non-profit organisation that is helping (wild) bees and bumblebees.
Bees are not only extremely beautiful, fuzzy animals with amazing stripes, but also they are super crucial for our food supply and sadly enough threatened to disappear soon if we don't make an effort to improve their habitat. That is why I got so fascinated with these hairy creatures. As a painter but also as a human beeing. I want to show their beauty and stress out their vulnerability.
